Maria Jose earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music from Bellas Artes University in Cartagena, Colombia. During her university years, her passion for teaching blossomed, leading her to start imparting violin and music theory lessons to children and young adults within the same academic institution. She also served as the musical assistant to the conductor of the Youth Orchestra. Upon graduating, Maria Jose embarked on a career in music education. She taught music theory, ear training, and various musical instruments as part of early musical education programs in multiple schools throughout the city.

Maria Jose’s musical journey includes an eight-year tenure as a violinist with the Symphony Orchestra of Bolivar. During this time, she performed at numerous events and music festivals both in Colombia and on the international stage. In 2018, she relocated to Calgary, where her dedication to music and passion for educating children continue to thrive. Her philosophy is best summed up by her own words: “The skills and techniques acquired through the violin can be transformed into a heartfelt melody.”
