Grand Violin Ensemble of Calgary

Grand Violin Ensemble offers an extraordinary opportunity exclusively for violin students in Calgary, aged 12+, who are at RCM Levels 5-10.

At the Grand Violin Ensemble, we are committed to elevating our students by placing them in the spotlight and creating opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom. Our ensemble receives world-class mentorship through collaborations with distinguished professionals, such as Richard Roberts, Concertmaster of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and violin professor at McGill University, who joins us periodically in Calgary to lead master classes and perform alongside our students.

This year, we are taking the ensemble’s growth even further by arranging performances in public venues (such as the Central Library and the City Hall) and community events across the city. These opportunities allow students not only to refine their artistry in front of diverse audiences but also to gain real-world experience as recognized young performers in Calgary’s musical landscape.

Through these unique experiences, we ensure that every member of the Grand Violin Ensemble is celebrated, challenged, and inspired to rise to new heights as musicians and performers.

Audition: For violin students who are not currently enrolled at the Nirvana Academy of Violin, we ask that they submit a short video of themselves playing a piece of their choice, as well as one scale and arpeggio with the bow technique/pattern of their choice.
