About Us

Nirvana Academy of Violin was founded in July 2013. The Academy is focused on providing academic oriented services rather than commercial based services. We guarantee that our students learn faster, they pass their RCM exams and auditions. We pride ourselves with training RCM Gold Medalists and sending students to the Calgary Youth Orchestra. We keep ourselves upgraded with our teaching skills and educational methods. 


Nirvana Nirvan holds a BFA degree in violin performance from Concordia University, Montreal. She has performed recitals, chamber music, and has been a member of the Musicians of the World Symphony Orchestra (MWSO) for several years until she moved to Calgary in 2013. In July 2014 she founded the Nirvana Academy of Violin. Nirvana is also a singer and songwriter, and she produced her own music album in 2011,

At the age of 17, Nirvana commenced her career as a teaching assistant at a music conservatory and has accumulated over two decades of experience in working with young and adult learners. She previously taught violin, piano, flute recorder, and music theory at an international school in Turkey. For Nirvana, teaching music is a life mission. She is a versatile musician and pedagogue who is continually refining her pedagogical approaches and strategies. By introducing original and innovative approaches sensitive to individual differences, she has been able to cultivate musical enthusiasm in all her students, regardless of their background and temperament.
Nirvana is an RCM registered teacher. All her students have passed the RCM exams, some with Gold medals. She also leads and conducts the newly shaped educational intermediate string orchestra of the academy.

Peter started learning Violin at the age of 4. At the age of 6 he performed at a competition in China and received 3rd place. At age 6-13, Peter studied under director Mao of Anshan violin association and completed the Chinese national violin examination level 7 at age 13. Peter is pursing towards his teaching degree (level 10) with the Royal Conservatory of Music. 
 After many different career paths, Peter have found both joy and passion in the field of performing and teaching Violin. Peter is a very enthusiastic individual who’s goal is not only focused for the future success of all students, but also making sure the student have plenty of fun.


Viorel Petic holds a masters degree in music from the Stefan Neaga Academy of music, theatre, and fine arts in Chisinau, Moldova. He then became a professor at the Stefan Neaga Music College.

Viorel was a member of the National Orchestra, Lautarii, and the Creator Art Orchestra in Chisinau, Moldova. He has performed in Germany, Italy, France, Belguim, Luxemburg, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, and other countries. In 2015, Viorel and his family moved to Canada.

Apart from being a professional performer, Viorel is also very friendly both as a person and as a teacher. He cares very much about the improvement of his students. Viorel is currently leading the 1st violins in the Nirvana Academy’s orchestra.

Being into a family of musicians, Bonita started leaning violin at the age of 3. Since then, she has participated in the Amici program, where she has played recitals, quartets, and more. She has also played in the Junior Orchestra Program at Mount Royal University (Preparatory Strings, Pre-Chamber Strings A, Chamber Strings, and Conservatory Strings now known as Conservatory Sinfonia). Aside from the two programs, she has also competed at Kiwanis Music Festivals since the age of 9 and have won different awards in solo and chamber divisions.

Bonita has found joy in performing as well as helping students reach their fullest potential. She aims to create a caring and supportive atmosphere and wants to ensure students have fun while being trained.
