About Lorena
Musical Background & Training
Born and raised in Mexico City, Lorena began her formal music studies at age 10 at the National Conservatory of Music of Mexico. At age 12, she switched her focus to violin, eventually earning a Bachelor’s degree as a Concert Violinist.
Orchestral & Performance Career
Lorena spent ten years performing with the Carlos Chávez Symphony Orchestra, and from 1999 to 2010 she was a member of the Army Symphony Orchestra in Mexico City. Her orchestral experience deeply enriches her teaching and performance insight.
Personal Interests & Life
Outside of her musical life, Lorena enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies, cooking, and exploring new places. She brings not just technical rigor to her teaching, but warmth, sensitivity, and life experience to inspire her students.
Music Education
Teaching Experience & Philosophy
She first began teaching violin in 1999 at Do Re Mi Music Academy, and later taught at Green Gates School (2011–2017). Between 2018 and 2020, Lorena conducted the student orchestra at Tecnológico de Monterrey. In 2024, she provided violin instruction in Winnipeg before relocating to Calgary.
Lorena’s approach to teaching is rooted in helping students discover the joy of musical expression. She believes music is a heart-to-heart conversation without words, and aims to guide each student toward performance confidence, musicality, and emotional connection.
