This course is for students age 11 and older who have reached RCM Level 4 or an equivalent level on their instrument and have a basic understanding of music theory. It offers one organized path through Levels 5, 6, 7, and 8 instead of spreading theory over several years.

Who Should Take This Course?

This course is for music students age 11 and older who have reached RCM Level 4 or an equivalent level on their instrument. Students should be comfortable reading notes and have a basic understanding of music theory, including note values, simple time signatures, and key signatures.

The course begins with a brief review of RCM Theory Levels 1–4 to refresh the fundamentals before moving on to Level 5.

Which RCM theory levels are included?

The course covers RCM Theory Levels 5, 6, 7, and 8 together in one 36-week program.

When are classes held?

Classes run Fridays, 6–7:45 p.m., from October 2, 2026 through June 25, 2027. There are 36 classes, each lasting 1 hour 45 minutes. No classes are held on December 25, 2026, January 1, 2027, or March 26, 2027.

What if a student misses a class?

Every class is recorded, and the recording is sent to students after each lesson. If a student misses a live class, they can watch the recording, catch up at their own pace, and continue with the weekly assignments. Recordings also let students revisit explanations and review lessons whenever they need a refresher.

Is this only for violin students?

No. This course is for music students studying any instrument.

How much does it cost?

Choose nine payments of $165 (total $1,485), or a one-time payment of $1,386, saving $99. The one-time payment or first monthly payment will be processed on October 15, 2026. Remaining monthly payments are due on November 1, December 1, January 1, February 1, March 1, April 1, May 1, and June 1, 2027. The November and December payments are in 2026.
