If you see that you or your child gets bored of taking violin lessons and doesn’t want to continue anymore, don’t be surprised. It’s normal for someone who only takes private lessons once a week and does nothing else with the violin to get bored. It is very important for students to have interactions with each other because it’s only through group performances that students improve faster while they enjoy playing. When students play together, they can follow up on each others’ progress,  they get more motivated and inspired, they develop stronger ear, they learn how to synchronize and follow each other.

At Nirvana Academy of Violin, not only we provide group classes, orchestra sessions, and 2 very elaborated and sophisticated recitals per year, we also provide other performance opportunities for our advanced students by assigning them to paid gigs that  are being requested from other organizations such as theatres, churches, weddings, corporations, etc. We also make sure that our adult students at any level receive as much attention as our younger students do by encouraging them to perform with each other in a group format or to join the orchestra if their level fit.

For beginning violinists aged 4-6 years will involve small group instruction. The group will meet every other week for 45 minutes (please note that group lessons are in addition to private lessons). An innovative methodology developed and practiced by the instructor Ms. Nirvana Nirvan will be used. This approach emphasizes the traditional value of cultivating discipline while at the same time focusing on developing an ear that is sensitive to musical tones. The instruction aims to encourage a love for musical exploration by means of learning the violin.

In this program, students will not only develop basic violin performance skills, but they will also be introduced to elementary concepts of music theory through activities involving the use of the piano and games. The children will be immersed in a rich learning environment that is designed to be positive and fun-filled.

Nirvana taught my twin daughters violin from the ages of 6 through 10, and taught my youngest daughter piano for several years. As a teacher of music to children, Nirvana struck the right balance between good humour and strong discipline. My children always enjoyed their lessons and showed steady progress. They looked forward to their time with Nirvana, and appreciated the additional materials she brought in (music videos online, additional pieces to listen to, composition software, etc.). Nirvana placed a lot of emphasis on technique, posture, breathing and stance, as well as making sure they developed an ear for the music and learned to read it. As a non-musical parent, it was nevertheless very clear to me that my children were picking up a lot from their teacher, and that she was encouraging in them an appreciation and enthusiasm for music beyond just the learning of an instrument.

I would not hesitate to recommend Nirvana as a violin teacher; indeed, I have sent several of my friends her way over the years!

Nirvana is an experienced teacher, whose passion and musical sensitivity enhance each lesson. She always went the extra mile to enrich my lessons, providing additional resources and getting to know me on a personal level. She was well attuned to my personal needs and goals, so that I was both challenged to improve and unafraid to make mistakes. Overall, I had a wonderful experience as her student!

Nirvana interested me in Violin even more than I was already interested.
